And yet we proudly remain a piece of history preserved, a symbol of the independence that defined the women who once gathered here. Each room in our hotel pays special homage to the ladies of the Guild. We invite you to explore their stories and to take advantage of every comfort in our Guild House, which we hope will be your own “blessed little oasis” in Philadelphia.
Our Story
Named for the Guild member Mathilde Weil, who was a well-known photographer around the turn of the century, this suite was designed to evoke the black-and-white photography that was Mathilde’s passion. Richly textured, sleek and clean-lined, the decor meshes modernism with classical architecture for a suite that is, like Mathilde herself, artful and sophisticated. It may be tough to leave the comfort of your room, but Fishtown is ripe for exploring, particularly if you’ve already checked out the classic Philly sites and more tourist-heavy neighborhoods.

What are the check-in and check-out times at Guild House Hotel?
You’ll find Malin + Goetz toiletries, a hairdryer, a fabric steamer, and decent Wi-Fi in each room, and each suite comes with a small-yet-functional kitchen. AKA Rittenhouse Square does things a bit differently than its hotel neighbors, and that’s because the length of stay is often longer. With that in mind, the property accommodates and anticipates a variety of guest needs. Each suite — from the studio size up to the two-bedroom layout — comes with a gourmet kitchen, a Nespresso machine, a workspace, and access to the fitness center and cinema. They were in touch with me daily from a few days before my stay until the last moment of my stay.
The Rooms at Fitler Club
The staff, especially the manager, were wonderful and very accommodating. It was very convenient not to have to check in at a front desk, and just be able to go straight to our room. We’re within easy walking distance of the Kimmel Cultural Campus, the Bellevue Hotel, Crystal Tea Room, City Hall, The Lucy, the Academy of Music, the Arts Ballroom, and more. This sprawling split-level suite — our most expansive space, at 1,000 square feet — features two bedrooms, a large living room (perfect for gatherings and celebrations!), two full bathrooms and a kitchenette. Named for Dr. Alice Norton, a remarkable Guild member who organized the Guild’s musical and theatrical productions, the suite occupies the space that was once the club’s auditorium. Today, a cool, elevated rock ‘n’ roll vibe — all graphic textiles, luxe leathers, brass bling, and other whimsical details — nods to the lively spirit, fun and showmanship Alice brought to the Guild.
If you want to fully immerse yourself in Philadelphia history, book a room at The Morris House Hotel. The interiors of the boutique hotel are rather endearing, if just a touch outdated, but past guests note everything is comfortable and welcoming. The property is billed as an “invisible service boutique hotel,” meaning there’s a sense of anonymity to your stay. That doesn’t mean there isn’t any thought put into the guest experience, though — quite the opposite, in fact.
The best of Philadelphia
In true Philadelphia form, there’s something for every type of traveler. Inside our lovingly restored 1855 rowhome — a National Historic Landmark — you’ll find a graceful, welcoming boutique hotel in which modern comforts mesh seamlessly with the historic character that makes the place so special. Guild House, a stunning boutique hotel in the heart of Philadelphia, is more than just a restful retreat, more than just a pretty face.
Two other protesters could also be seen rushing in to try to grab the man’s sign, with one woman ripping it out of his hands. Shocking footage posted on social media Monday shows a woman attacking a pro-Israel demonstrator as she tries to rip a sign out of his hands. A bright red door signals your arrival to The Franklin on Rittenhouse, a 20-room property with a prime central location. It’s a sophisticated getaway, where all of the accommodations are uniquely decorated; The Maude, for instance, veers toward classic Hollywood glamor, while The Monarch is more masculine with its deep burgundy and brown color scheme. The New Century Trust, now a private foundation, sells the historic, protected building (to us!).
I’ve been crying,” said the woman, who elected to remain anonymous. UCLA did not say whether the woman was charged with any crime, nor did it immediately reply to The Post’s request for additional comment. The woman who allegedly flashed the Taser was detained by campus security and escorted away, KXN News radio reports.
The Loews Philadelphia Hotel, however, is one of the better ones in the city. Along with desks and chairs in every room, there’s free, high-speed Wi-Fi and a fitness center you can escape to during the workday. The location is also a major plus; come lunchtime, you can step outside to any number of Philadelphia’s casual dining spots or more elegant bistros. Eliza envisioned a club that would take on the needs of modern working women — offering trade classes, for instance, as well as a safe, beautiful gathering space for rest, for meals, for entertainment, for activism and more. And that’s just what the Guild do over the years, playing a vital role not just in the lives of the women it served, but in the course of American history.
You’ll also get access to member-only discounts and a dedicated team of travel experts ready to provide personalized assistance along every step of your journey. Every booking you make at a Plus Program hotel will be packed with privileges that pay for themselves in as little as one stay. Best of all, you can book as many Plus stays as you want, for whomever you want.
Housed inside a lovingly restored National Historic Landmark, our hotel offers guests a glimpse into a remarkable history and an experience unlike any other you’ll find in Philadelphia. At The Logan Philadelphia, Curio Collection by Hilton, it’s all about the location. When staying in one of its 391 rooms and suites, you’ll be just a short walk or Uber ride away from most of the city’s top cultural sites — including the Rodin Museum and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Your exposure to art will also continue inside the hotel, which showcases original local artwork throughout its accommodations and common spaces. Combining my on-the-ground knowledge with editor-loved properties and winners from T+L’s It List, I’ve rounded up a list of the very best hotels in Philadelphia. Read on to discover what keeps the city’s leading hotels at the top of their game.
Great location, hotel is drop dead gorgeous, room was beautiful and comfortable, great hotel amenities including sparkling water on tap, free snacks and drinks. Didn't see other hotel guests around so our stay was very quiet. Bathroom was very nice with plenty of towels and nice smelling toiletries. Flexibility, impeccable service and uncomplicated ease are the hallmarks of Guild House—we offer customized plans and services for every couple, with as little or as much involvement as you’d like. Upon request, we’re happy to help facilitate catering and bartending services, as well as offering an on-site staff for wedding and party activities, cleaning, accepting deliveries and other special needs. I’ve never stayed in the rooms themselves, but my experience as a club member involved daily visits to the riverside building, where I would sit with my laptop or hop on the Peloton Tread.
Throughout the second half of the twentieth century and into the twenty-first, the Guild would shift into many different iterations. But its legacy as one of the more remarkable women’s groups in America was long ago cemented, and some 9,000 women have been a part of this slice of history since Eliza and her friends first had a vision nearly 150 years ago. And when you “book the house” for your event, our custom portal will allow your guests to choose and reserve their preferred room. Professional sports games aren’t the only events that may result in traffic, street closures, and higher hotel prices. Annual events like the Mummers Parade, the Independence Blue Cross Broad Street Run, and the Philadelphia Pride March & Festival are known to bring visitors and locals alike out onto the city’s streets in large numbers.
